Gant UK flagship opens in London

Swedish lifestyle brand Gant was due to open its UK flagship store on Regent Street in London as Drapers went to press, as part of a plan to increase its UK retail presence.

The 7,375 sq ft store, which opened on January 22, is Gant’s largest in the UK. The brand has 16 UK standalone stores and 300 stockists.

Gant UK managing director Tracy Stone said: “This is part of our strategy to grow retail. We opened a new store at Quakers Friars in Bristol in April 2009 and are opening another in Guildford in April 2010.”

She added that Gant chose Regent Street for its flagship because the street has strong overseas retailers such as Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers and Anthropologie.

The store’s lower ground floor houses Gant’s denim-led Rugger line, the ground floor stocks the menswear mainline and the first floor features womenswear, kidswear and homeware. The store also includes a website terminal to allow customers to search for product and to promote the company’s www.gantuk.com website, which launched in August.
