The number of visitors to German footwear trade show GDS declined by 6% to 31,000 this season.
The organisers of GDS, which took place in Dusseldorf last week, said that it saw around 2,000 fewer visitors because businesses had cut back the size of teams they sent to the footwear fair.
Kirstin Deutelmoser, director of GDS and sister sourcing show Global Shoes, said: “The quality of our visitors was very high. All important buyers were represented but with smaller teams. the atmosphere in the halls was very positive.”
Almost half of the visitors to the fair were from overseas markets.
The next edition of GDS takes place at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from September 11-13.
