Gelert places distribution centre staff into consultation

Outdoor brand Gelert has put 18 staff at one of its two distribution centres into consultation, as it considers its future.

Earlier this year investor and Yeomans’ owner Jason Granite bought the brand to merge it with his Yeomans outdoor goods retail chain and kickstarted a review of the business.

Staff at the Porthmadog centre in Wales have been put into consultation but will be given the opportunity to relocate to the brand’s Widnes site, should Porthmadog close.

In a statement Gelert said: “If the outcome of the consultation process is that it is decided to close the site, all team members will be offered the opportunity to relocate to Widnes. This current process of rationalisation will in no way affect the progress and development plans announced earlier this year.”
