George at Asda has launched a £20 women’s suit today to help customers beat the credit crunch.
The “City Suit”, which includes a jacket and skirt or trousers, will be followed by an “Office Chic” outfit, comprising a £10 pair of trousers and free blouse, worth £2.50, from January 21.
Last week, George launched a £19 men’s “Perfect Fit” suit.
George managing director Anthony Thompson said: “In 2009, UK women will need to make very considered decisions when they shop for clothes and are having to save up to get both high quality and value for money outfits. In some cases they can’t afford to get anything new at all.”
He added: “Classic items like the £20 suit are offering customers real value for money on what they consider as absolute wardrobe essentials they wear everyday rather than being seduced by gimmicky price promotions or disposable fashion. With hundreds of thousands of jobs being lost last year, people who want to smarten up often can’t afford to. Having a workwear range in store that will suit everybody, no matter what your profession, is key to helping our customers get through what is going to be a very tough year.”
