George at Asda has this week launched its plus size range, called George Plus, as was first predicted by Drapers last month.
The 35-piece dual-sized online range starts at size 18 to 20 and goes up to 30 to 32. The collection includes printed blazers, skater dresses, embellished tops, longline tunics and maxi skirts. Prices for the range start at £8 for tops and leggings and rise to £16 for blazers and jackets. Asda said the George range is up to 65% more affordable than Evans and Asos Curve, citing its £16 blazers and jackets, which it compares to a £50 similar garment sold by Asos Curve.
Helen Low, head of design for George, said: “George shoppers want plus-size clothing that is on-trend, affordable and great quality. It’s important to us that we created a range designed specifically with plus-size silhouettes in mind.
“We have used our expertise to really work with garments that are cut perfectly, so the look and fit of these pieces means that our shoppers never have to compromise on style. Our range will take each of these important elements and deliver a fashion-forward capsule wardrobe that will make women look and feel great.”
