Italian comfort footwear brand Geox will wholesale its men’s and women’s clothing range for the first time in the UK for autumn 10.
Previously, Geox clothing had only been sold in the UK from the brand’s seven standalone stores in cities including London, Manchester and Reading.
“Our clothing has performed extremely well in our UK stores and this has encouraged us to move into wholesale, where we already have a strong presence and good relationships from the footwear side,” said Ermes Stefanutto, country manager for Geox UK.
The brand has 400 UK footwear accounts across men’s, women’s and kids’ with department stores including John Lewis, Harrods and Selfridges and independents such as The Golden Boot in Maidstone and Shaw & Hallas in Huddersfield.
“Between 25% and 30% of the total sales in our UK standalone stores come from clothing and we will be looking to match this with our wholesale venture,” said Stefanutto. “In comparison, 11% of total global sales are clothing, so as a category split the UK outperforms the rest of Europe on clothing.”
Geox will position itself in the mid to high end of the market, with a focus on technology and its Italian design heritage. “We have a patent for our breathable footwear and have extended the patent to our clothing. Our technical additions make us stand out from anyone else,” added Stefanutto.
The wholesale clothing range debuts with 400 pieces for autumn 10, predominantly made up of outerwear alongside jumpers, trousers, jeans and shirts. Practical options include down-filled coats in nylon fabrics with waterproof finishes. Jackets in wool and leather add a more trend-driven edge.
Prices range from £19 to £140 for adults’ clothing and £10 to £51 for kids’ styles.
