Gerry Weber names new international head

German womenswear brand Gerry Weber has appointed Andreas Schmidt as vice president of international sales.

In his new role Schmidt will be responsible for building the international profile and reach of all five brands at the company; Gerry Weber, Gerry Weber edition, GW, Taifun and Samoon by Gerry Weber.

Schmidt comes to the Gerry Weber from the Wünsche group in Hamburg, where he was business manager.

He was previously regional vice president and board member at Mexx. He has also worked at Escada and Timberland.

The move follows the brand’s expansion into footwear last year following a licensing deal with footwear brand Josef Seibel to produce and sell a range of Gerry Weber footwear. The first range of footwear from Josef Seibel for Gerry Weber launched for the autumn 13 season.

Gerry Weber is currently in 205 doors in the UK and Ireland.
