Gieves & Hawkes chief exec to depart

John Durnin, chief executive of Savile Row tailor Gieves & Hawkes, is set to leave the business after almost two years in the role.

Durnin joined Gieves & Hawkes in April 2010 and was formerly senior manager of luxury giant Richemont.

Tom Scruby, chairman of Gieves & Hawkes, said: “I can confirm that John Durnin is leaving Gieves & Hawkes in order to pursue other opportunities. John feels it is an appropriate time for him to step down from the business as he feels confident that the current management team will continue to grow and develop the business going forward.

He added: “Both on behalf of Board of Gieves & Hawkes and all the staff here in the UK, we would like to thank John for his hard work and considerable contribution to the brand over this period.  We wish him every success with his new endeavours.”

Durnin has not yet been replaced.
