Gilda & Pearl appoints managing director following investment

UK lingerie brand Gilda & Pearl has appointed Richard Hinzel as its first managing director.

It comes after the business received an undisclosed sum from a group of investors, which includes former Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy and ex-chief financial officer and head of international at Asos Jon Kamaluddin.

Hinzel will continue in his role as partner at brand design agency Joe Doucet x Partners.

Gilda & Pearl, which is stocked in Selfridges and Coco de Mer, will launch in Harrods in May. It will run a pop-up bridal monogramming service in the department store until the end of June.

It is also opening an Atelier at 21 Conduit Street in June where it will offer a custom design service for bespoke pieces, including sourcing of fabrics and colours, hand-finish details, custom fitting and monogramming.

Diane Houston, who founded Gilda & Pearl in 2008, said: “I’m very fortunate to have secured an investor group who all have considerable experience with online brands and digital technologies. Their collective experiences will help shape and develop our online presence and integration of technology, which is critical for future expansion.”
