Gio-Goi steps into footwear arena for autumn

Young fashion brand Gio-Goi is launching a footwear collection for autumn 08.
USC founders and Gio-Goi co-owners David Douglas and Angus Morrison have recruited John Broe, the former country manager of sports footwear brand Converse, to head the new footwear offer.

Broe said the brand’s casual footwear range would target existing Gio-Goi consumers who are largely buying into cup-sole trainers or vulcanised Converse-inspired styles. Retail prices will range from £35 to £55.

Broe said the range would target Gio-Goi’s existing clothing accounts and added that he was in talks with a specialist footwear chain to supply the product exclusively.

Broe, who has also worked at K-Swiss and Ellesse, has taken on a full-time freelance position with Gio-Goi. He said: “It is a fantastic brand. The most important thing is that the clothing and footwear look like one brand.”

The footwear collection will launch at streetwear show Bread & Butter Barcelona on January 16-18.
