Graduate Fashion Week 2017 winners revealed

Halina North

Edinburgh College of Arts student Halina North scooped the top prize at the annual gala show, marking the end of Graduate Fashion Week.

North, whose collection features a series of sculptural, proportion twisting dresses made from recycled paper and plastics, picked up the prestigious Christopher Bailey Gold Award, as well as being awarded with the Hilary Alexander Trailblazer award.

Fellow Edinburgh College of Arts students Ruth Williams and Maddie Williams picked up the awards for visionary knitwear and catwalk textiles respectively, with the M&S Womenswear Prize also going to an Edinburgh student, Irene D’Antonio. The Debenhams Menswear Award went to Daniel Rynne from the Arts University Bournemouth. The George Catwalk to Store award was won by Laura Capello from Bath Spa Unversity.

The awards were given out at the gala show which closed Graduate Fashion Week, where the 25 top catwalk collections from the week were shown before the announcement of the winners.

Earlier in the week the Drapers Publication Award was won by Elizabeth Bishop from Ravensbourne.
