Graduate Fashion Week announces gala winners

Rebecca Thomson of Manchester Metropolitan University took home the Gold Award prize for best student collection at last night’s Graduate Fashion Week gala show.

Italian designer Alberta Ferretti presented the £20,000 award to 22-year old Thomson at the show at Earl’s Court 2 in London.

The Best Menswear Award was won by Thomas Crisp, of Ravensbourne college in London. Rhea Fields of Northbrook College in Sussex picked up the Best Womenswear trophy.

Anna Lee of De Montfort University in Leicester won the Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textiles prize, Ledina Zhang of Northumbria University picked up the BHM Knitwear Visionary Award and Roya Hesam, from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute won the International Award.

Award judges included designer Betty Jackson, The Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander and Dylan Jones, editor of GQ.
