Fashion colleges are gearing up to take part in the British Fashion Council’s (BFC) annual preview event showcasing the work of final-year students who will hit the jobs market later in the year.
The Colleges Council Graduate Preview day will take place on April 28 at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London.
The event will attract industry insiders from retail, design, manufacturing and marketing.
The 27 exhibiting colleges will be judged for the Drapers College Portfolio Awards in association with the BFC. The awards recognise the Best Portfolio Based on Overall Presentation and, for the first time, the Best Portfolio for Fashion Illustration. There will also be an award for the Best Digital Presentation Portfolio.
“The event continues to provide unparalleled opportunities for the country’s top fashion colleges to present outstanding upcoming talent,” said the BFC’s Hilary Riva.
This is the third year Drapers has been involved in the event.
“We have the best fashion colleges in the world and the quality of portfolios is testament to that,” said Drapers editor Lauretta Roberts. “But it’s not just in producing talent at which our colleges excel, it’s in ensuring their graduates have rewarding careers in the industry, and the Colleges Council Graduate Preview Day is a perfect
platform for that.”
