Group sales grow at SMCP

SMCP, the French group which owns premium brands Sandro, Maje and Claudie Pierlot, saw group sales hit €786M (£154m) in 2016, up 16.4% compared to the previous year.

EBITDA increased by 22% to €130M (£112m) and international sales also grew, rising by 24% and making up over half of global sales.

The group said the growth was due to strong collections, focus on customer experience and the expansion of its point of sale network.

At the end of 2016, SMCP operated 1,223 points of sale and its brands were present in 36 countries.

SCMP was bought by Chinese textiles company Shandong Ruyi in March last year.
