Guardian's McCall resigns from Tesco board

Guardian Media Group chief executive Carolyn McCall has resigned from the board of Tesco, following the legal dispute between the Guardian newspaper and the supermarket giant.

McCall has stepped down from her role as a non-executive director of Tesco to avoid a conflict of interest.

McCall said: "It is with regret that I have decided to resign from the Tesco board, but given the clear conflict of interest it would be inappropriate for me to continue in the role."

Tesco is taking legal action against The Guardian newspaper over allegations it claims the paper made about the supermarket's tax affairs.
