Guess European sales up 20.6%

Sales at the European arm of American denim brand Guess jumped 20.6% to $210.2m (£128.8m) during the second quarter to August 1.

The company reported record net profits of $59.6m (£36.5m), a 10.6% increase against the year before, while total sales increased 1.4% to $522.4m (£320.2m).

Guess chief executive Paul Marciano said: “We increased both revenues and earnings over last year’s results to record levels. The actions that we took to protect our margins and preserve our strong capital structure are clearly paying off. Europe’s performance was key to our results.”
