UK fashion label Hakaan has been awarded €220,000 (£181,000) to show at Paris Fashion Week in October as part of the ANDAM International Grand Prize.
Turkish born Hakaan Yildirim, who is based in London, will also use the fund to open a studio in Paris.
Hakaan was chosen from a shortlist of six finalists that also included UK designer Mark Fast, Canadian-born Calla Haynes, Italian designer Francesco Scognamiglio and Bouchra Jarrar and Alexandre Vauthier from France.
ANDAM (Association Nationale pour le Développement Des Arts de la Mode) launched the award 20 years ago to reward emerging talent and promote Paris internationally as a fashion destination.
This year’s winner was decided by a panel of the association’s corporate partners and fashion professionals, including Daily Telegraph fashion editor Hilary Alexander, Jefferson Hack, co-founder of Dazed & Confused magazine and Lanvin artistic director Alber Elbaz.
Last year’s winner was British designer Giles Deacon.
