Fashion sales for the week edged up 1.9% year on year, driven by menswear and beauty.

Mark Blundell, head of retail development at John Lewis, said: “The half term holidays across the majority of the country provided the backdrop to a strong week’s trade. In the week ahead, our shops and online channels continue to showcase the new spring and summer season assortments and with Mother’s Day a week away, there are plenty of reasons to be positive.”
