Hans Schmitt has resurfaced at young fashion business SuperGroup, nearly a year after his surprise departure from Warnaco.
Schmitt is joining SuperGroup as managing director of international and wholesale, Retail Week reports. He takes his new role up next Monday (June 17).
Schmitt indirectly replaces SuperGroup’s former international director and co-founder Theo Karpathios, who quit unexpectedly last August.
A spokesman for the company said it had been “looking for the right candidate for some time”, highlighting SuperGroup’s international expansion plans. Last month chief executive Julian Dunkerton said he planned to expand in Europe, with a focus on Germany, as well as looking to new territories such as China and Russia.
Schmitt left Warnaco, which operates the license for Calvin Klein jeans, underwear and swimwear worldwide, in July 2012.
Before that he worked at Hugo Boss for 12 years, latterly as senior vice president of the brand in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
