Hardy Amies sees sales rise

Hardy Amies saw sales rise 35% to £1.64 million but will not break into profit this year.

The designer brand said that sales of its couture line from its Savile Row showroom were up 60% on the previous year and added that the opening of Hardy Amies first menswear standalones in Edinburgh and Chester and the launch of a women's store in South Kensington, London had contributed to the overall sales uplift.

However the company said that despite the encouraging sales growth, the business remained loss-making, partly due to continued investment in the brand. Hardy Amies added that the business would not anticipated to become profitable until after 2008.
