Harrods launches new store navigation tool

Harrods has launched an in-store mapping tool within its app, to help shoppers navigate around the Knightsbridge department store this Christmas.

The Mobile Store Guide uses technology from Pointr Labs and data gleaned from a network of more than 500 beacons, which have been installed on the ceilings of the 167-year-old building.

The tool connects to a user’s iPhone or iPad through Bluetooth and highlights their location on the interactive map.

Laura Brown, director of retail at Harrods, said: “At Harrods, we are always looking for innovative ways to provide customers with a shopping experience they won’t get anywhere else. The new Mobile Store Guide will provide customers with a directory of brands and departments, making it simple to find what they are looking for.”
