Harvey Nichols’ Birmingham branch is to double in size, thus expanding its fashion offering, as it relocates.
The store is to move to a larger space within the city’s Mailbox shopping centre, which will see it increase to more than 45,000 sq ft.
The luxury department store said menswear and personal shopping are currently performing “beyond expectations” and so will be rewarded with increased space in the new store.
The Harvey Nichols Birmingham store will continue to trade as normal whilst work is in progress, which is due to start before the end of the summer and the new store is scheduled to open in spring 2015.
Harvey Nichols will now be at “the heart” of the shopping centre, which is undergoing a transformation as part of an investment understood to be worth £50m from Brockton Capital and partner Milligan Retail.
Group chief executive Joseph Wan said: “We firmly believe our participation in this redevelopment will underline our commitment to Birmingham and its shoppers – it is a testimony to our success in the city as well as the success of the city itself.”
He added: “The new store will enable us to greatly expand for our customers the best of fashion, beauty, accessories and food and to continue bringing them the very best in luxury and service well into the future.”
