Harvey Nichols has appointed Google’s luxury business brand expert as its head of digital marketing.
Kerem Atasoy, who will join the department store retailer on September 1, will be responsible for digital marketing, customer relationship management and overseeing the social media team.
Atasoy joined Google in 2007 as an industry analyst. In May 2011 he set up Google’s luxury practice in the UK leading relationships with global brand advertisers such as Burberry, Net-a-Porter, Gucci and Rolex.
In September 2013 he headed Google’s YouTube sales for Turkey and the Middle East, and he also worked on the first live stream on the YouTube homepage with O2.
Atasoy also worked on the launch of the Burberry Kisses marketing campaign last year. This used facial recognition technology through webcams to allow customers to send personal online messaged sealed with their own kiss.
Harvey Nichols group marketing and creative director Shadi Halliwell said the appointment would “play and important part in driving forward Harvey Nichols’ digital marketing strategy”.
“Digital is integral to our plans and offers us huge potential to grow our business in the UK and internationally,” said Halliwell. “Kerem brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this area.”
