Head office jobs cut at Brantano

Half of the 71 head office jobs at footwear chain Brantano have been axed following its fall into administration.

Drapers understands the 34 redundancies include the Brantano buying team.

Tony Barrell and Mike Jervis of PwC were appointed as joint administrators of Brantano on 22 March after they failed to find a buyer for the business.

“Following our appointment we have been continuing to trade the business as normal while assessing the trading strategy and any interest in parts of the business,” Barrell said.

“As part of the initial trading assessment, regrettably, 34 employees are being made redundant at its head office in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Our thoughts are with the affected employees and we will be doing what we can to support them through this difficult time.

”We are continuing to trade the stores and concessions, while engaging in ongoing discussions with interested parties about the potential sale of parts of the business.”

Brantano has 73 stores and 64 concessions across the UK and employs a total of 1,086 staff. The retailer called a halt to online trading last week.
