Headen & Quarmby appoints regional sales reps for Kinky Knickers

Headen & Quarmby, the manufacturer of Mary Portas’ Kinky Knickers line, has appointed three regional sales representatives to help grow the lingerie brand’s number of stockists.

Hilary Gameson and Julie Spencer of Blue Meringue Agencies will represent the South West, while private sales agents Pauline Young and Lynda Wilby will represent the Midlands and the North respectively.

The hires are part of plans to boost stockist levels from 65 to 100 by the end of the year.

David Moore, managing director of Headen & Quarmby, said: “Sales for these areas were previously handled in-house but we didn’t know all the independents out there. These new appointments all have contacts with independents and are better placed to work with indies.”

It comes as the factory has been through a series of internal changes, with senior creative manager Paulette Roberts appointed creative director and senior technical manager Sandra Ward promoted to technical director.

The company has also appointed Louise Kilburn to the new role of head of social media.

Moore said: “We feel it’s vitally important to communicate with our customers and social media followers especially since establishing the Kinky Knickers transactional website and with the imminent arrival of the Ella & Me [its premium lingerie range] website.”

Headen & Quarmby called in the administrators in January after the delay of a large order and incurring debts hit the business. It was bought out of administration by its former management team, safeguarding 12 jobs, Drapers revealed earlier this year.

The manufacturer featured in the Channel 4 TV series Mary’s Bottom Line in 2012 to produce the retail expert’s underwear line Kinky Knickers.
