Hedi Slimane debuts YSL collection to buyers only

Hedi Slimane’s first collection as creative director at Yves Saint Laurent will be shown only to buyers.

According to reports, the French luxury fashion brand’s women’s cruise and spring 13 menswear collections will be shown to buyers in late June or early July, but the rest of the fashion world will be kept in the dark.

Slimane will instead make his catwalk debut at Paris Fashion Week when he presents YSL’s spring 13 womenswear collection. Paris Fashion Week will be held from September 25 to October 3.

Slimane was named as YSL’s creative director in February following the departure of Stefano Pilati. Slimane, former head of design at Dior menswear, has taken creative control of all YSL collections and the overall brand image. He previously headed up YSL’s menswear division from 1997 to 2000.
