Hedi Slimane wins €9.3m following Kering court battle

Former Saint Laurent designer Hedi Slimane was underpaid by as much as €9.3m after tax in his last year at the label, a French court has ruled.

In 2016 the designer received pay of €667,000. However, Bloomberg reports that Slimane had a clause in his contract guaranteeing compensation after taxes of at least €10m per year, through an agreement to buy shares at the company and sell them back at a higher price.

A spokesman for Kering, which owns the fashion house, said it planned to appeal the court’s decision. Slimane declined to comment.
