Hermes distribution centre fire delays Black Friday deliveries

A fire at Hermes’ central distribution centre in Warrington has caused delays to deliveries of Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases.

The fire broke out yesterday evening (December 3) and was caused by a conveyor motor burnout. “Nobody was hurt during the incident and no parcels were damaged,” said a spokeswoman for Hermes. “All repairs have been completed and the facility is once again fully operational.

“Hermes is now operating five hubs in total to clear any backlog of parcels. Currently, the deliveries of some parcels are being delayed by up to 24 hours,” said the company in a statement.
