Hermes opens UK’s largest parcel hub

Logistics provider Hermes has opened the biggest automated parcel distribution hub in the UK in Rugby.

The £31m development has created 100 new jobs and measures 270,000 sq ft. It has the capability to process more than one million parcels every day and has increased the company’s processing capacity by 45%.

Carole Woodhead, CEO of Hermes, said: “This substantial project demonstrates our total commitment to delivering world-class delivery solutions, not just for today, but for the foreseeable future.

“A retailer’s top priority is to have complete confidence in their delivery partner’s capacity during peak. This investment guarantees that we will continue to operate a highly proficient operation throughout the year, including those intense and prolonged spikes of activity.”
