H&M launches eco activewear range

H&M has launched its first environmentally-friendly women’s activewear collection, featuring clothing and accessories made from sustainable materials.

It includes a range of tights, hoodies, sports bras and tops that feature “predominant use” of recycled polyester and elastane.

The products, which are quick dry and seamless and follow a green, beige and black colour scheme, went into select stores at the end of December and will be available online from 4 January.

Petra Smeds, head designer of sportwear at H&M, said: “By bringing together the functional and feminine, the aim is to give customers a stylish, conscious sports collection. And not just through the fabrics – we utilised a new knitting technique that creates seamless garments while using less yarn or fabric waste. Blending function with sustainable thinking and fashion in this way is the way forward.”

In December last year, the H&M group announced it will debut a new online brand called Nyden in early 2018 targeted at millennial customers.
