H&M will become the new anchor tenant at The Spires shopping centre in Barnet, north London, which is set to undergo a £7m refurbishment.

The retailer has leased a 24,540 sq ft store at the 90,000 sq ft centre, which will also have three new restaurants and improvements to the public realm.
“Barnet is one of London’s largest and fastest-growing boroughs, as well as the most affluent, but to date the high street has lacked a suitable fashion and restaurant offer,” said Andrew Moffat, fund manager for Hunter Real Estate Investment Manager, which bought the centre in July last year on behalf of a North American institution.
“Our plans build on recent refurbishment to deliver an offer suitable for the local catchment, which will help increase footfall and create an evening economy for Barnet’s high street.”
