Hobbs appoints ex-New Look boss as new chairman

Hobbs has appointed former New Look chief executive Phil Wrigley as chairman, replacing Iain MacRitchie who has left the womenswear retailer after three years.

Wrigley has more than 30 years of retail experience and was formerly chief executive and chairman of New Look. He is currently chairman of Majestic Wine Warehouse and property investment company LXB Retail Properties. He is also non-executive director of restaurant chain Carluccio’s.

Hobbs chief executive Nicky Dulieu said: “Phil’s extensive retail experience and knowledge will be an excellent addition to Hobbs as we move towards an exciting phase of growth, maximising our potential in the UK and also successfully entering new overseas markets.”

Wrigley said: “Hobbs is a brand with a rich design heritage and I look forward to working with the management team to grow the business both in the UK and internationally.”

Hobbs opened its first store in Hampstead in 1981 and now operates more than 140 branches throughout the UK and Ireland as well as franchise stores in the UAE and Sweden.
