Womenswear retailer Hobbs is making its US debut by launching into department store chain Bloomingdale’s.
The retailer already sells online to the US, but plans to expand its customer base by opening concessions in five Bloomingdale’s stores in New York, Boston, King of Prussia in Pennsylvania, Hackensack in New Jersey and McLean in Virginia.
Each store will showcase an exclusive edit of Hobbs’ spring 14 collection with a focus on luxury fabrics and modern tailoring.
Outgoing chief executive Nicky Dulieu said: “We believe customers will be attracted to our rich British heritage and reputation for quality tailoring, footwear, coats, dresses and accessories.
“The US offers significant growth potential and marks an important stage in the brand’s evolution, once again demonstrating the strength of Hobbs’ international appeal, and the opportunity to open a concession there is a testament of the team’s hard work coming to fruition.”
The move follows the launch of local content websites in Germany, Australia and the US for autumn 13.
Hobbs has more than 140 stores across the UK and Ireland as well as franchise stores in the UAE and Sweden.
