HoF sees sales climb thanks to 'strong' house brands

House of Fraser grew like-for-likes 3.3% in the first six months of the year, with house brands and ecommerce both driving the department store’s growth.

In the 26 weeks to July 27 the business saw turnover reach £522.1m, with online sales rocketing 57%, while the refurbished Oxford Street store grew sales 10%. Gross profit growth rose 18%.

HoF’s house brands saw a 13% increase, with the business saying it saw “particularly strong performances” from Lab, Linea Weekend and Howick. The period also saw the launch of its new menswear range Army & Navy.

The introduction of third party brands such as Superdry also helped the business climb, while logistical improvements such as extensions to its click and collect and home delivery services also helped boost the top line.

In the current period, trading for the first eight weeks to September 21 has also been positive with like for like sales up 1.1%.
