House of Fraser has appointed Maria Hollins to the newly created role of executive director for buying and design, effective from May 9.
Drapers reported that Hollins was departing Asos in January. She joined Asos in November 2011 as trading director, before being promoted to retail director in September 2013.
At House of Fraser, she will take responsibility for all of the buying and design functions, working with brand partners, and design and sourcing teams, as well as enabling a more strategic view of space management across its estate. She will report directly to chief executive Nigel Oddy.
“I have been impressed by the huge ambitions for the business and am looking forward to working with the team to deliver the customer the best shopping experience, in the UK and internationally,” Hollins said.
Oddy added: “This newly created role will bring together for the first time buying and design functions across the business, allowing a more unified and strategic approach to key trading areas of our business.”
House of Fraser’s executive chairman, Frank Slevin, said: “Our ability to attract an individual of Maria’s calibre is a real testament to the strength of our business and our ambitions for growth both in the UK and internationally.”
