House of Fraser names new chief executive

House of Fraser has named Alex Williamson as its new chief executive officer.

Williamson will take up the role from 31 July and joins House of Fraser from sporting company Goodwood, where he was group managing director and then CEO.

House of Fraser’s executive chairman Frank Selvin said: “Alex is uniquely placed to execute our vision, and to contribute his extensive expertise of delivering compelling and engaging experiences for the customer.

“Over the last two years, we have built a very strong management team, with particular expertise across the key disciplines in retail. This has enabled us to make an appointment that is a clear statement of the direction we intend to take, placing the customer at the centre of our business.”

Williamson replaces former chief executive Nigel Oddy, who announced his plans to leave the business at the end of last year.

  • He ran a country estate, so he know lots about fashion retail then!
