House of Fraser has opened its first standalone store in China, in the city of Nanjing.
The 425,000 sq ft store is located in Sanpower Plaza, in Nanjing’s international financial centre, Xinjiekou.
It also offers a restaurant and cae, personal styling service, VIP lounge and VIP loyalty programme.
Nanjing is the capital of the Jiangsu province in eastern China and has a total population of 7.2 million.
The design of the building is neo-classical and takes inspiration from various elements featured across House of Fraser’s UK store portfolio, such as the glass roof of Frasers in Glasgow.
“Our aim was to ensure we replicated the store designs and environment present at some of the brand’s most unique stores – including Jenners in Edinburgh, Jollys in Bath and Frasers in Glasgow – and also provide customers with a unique premium shopping experience with a strong sense of British tradition,” said Yuan Yafei, chairman of House of Fraser’s owner, Sanpower Group.
House of Fraser chairman Frank Slevin added: “The store has focused on bringing international brands and a premium shopping experience to China. We are confident it will clearly demonstrate the unique status House of Fraser can achieve in the market, and will be a standout platform for our brand partners.”
House of Fraser has 59 stores across the UK and Ireland and annual sales of £1.3bn.
