Hype bags Samsung logistics deal in global push

Independent street label Hype has sealed a five-year logistics deal with Samsung’s fashion arm.

Samsung C&T UK, which is the fashion and trading sister to the Korean electronics company, will provide Hype with all back-office and logistics operations for five years from the end of March.

Under the deal, Samsung will provide the brand with a 24-hour order management system, inventory purchasing, logistics support, warehousing and invoicing.

It will also offer the label access to new potential retail partners, additional licensing opportunities and “improved” cash flow from different supplier payment terms.

Hype will continue to oversee its own product design, sales and marketing.

Liam Green, co-founder and creative director of Hype, said: “The partnership with Samsung is a game changer for Hype as we drive towards becoming a truly global brand.”

Jason Lee, MD of Samsung C&T UK, added that the business identified Hype as “having huge potential for growth not only in the UK market, but globally as well.”

Green founded Hype in 2011 in Leicester, aged 17 at the time. It currently sells through more than 1,250 UK stockists and across 15 countries.

Samsung C&T has previously worked with brands including FUBU and Ben Sherman.
