French contemporary brand IKKS will open its first UK store at 10 South Molton Street in London on June 11, Drapers can reveal.
The business sells womenswear, menswear and kidswear, but the 540 sq ft London store will only stock womenswear.
IKKS, which has an annual turnover of around €350m (£276m), has 500 shops globally, concentrated in France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany.
Chief executive Pierre-André Cauche told Drapers its expansion plans for the UK were “ambitious” but declined to go into more detail.
He added that South Molton Street was a “logical” choice for the first UK store: “It’s a key location for fashion and luxury given its proximity to Selfridges.
“We’re keen to launch a first test [site] and London is one of the undisputed fashion capitals. It is an eclectic city so is a perfect match with the mix and match philosophy that characterises IKKS.”
IKKS has 11 wholesale stockists in the UK, including Drapers Digital Award winner Childrensalon, and 1,000 in total worldwide.
Retail prices for its spring 16 womenswear range from £40 for a T-shirt to £280 for a coat. IKKS has not yet responded to requests for wholesale prices.
