IMAGE GALLERY: Activewear chain sets its sights on the UK

Australian activewear retailer Lorna Jane is scouting out London locations as it looks to launch in the UK this year.

The retailer, which has 120 stores in Australia, launched in the US in March and now plans to extend its global reach to the UK.

Director Caroline Lucey told Drapers the chain hoped to generate a “buzz” about the impending launch by holding trunk shows and opening pop up shops, as well as reguarly updating its Facebook page with news about the retailer.

Lucey said a permanent Lorna Jane store would be opened at the beginning of 2013.

“We’re looking at stores in central London,” she added. “We’re looking in the Notting Hill, King’s Road, Covent Garden areas.” Lucey said the retailer was also investigating the prospect of wholesaling the brand in the UK and is currently talking to potential stockists.

The range features activewear items from leggings to sports bras, jackets and tops. Retail prices for leggings will range between £35 to £55 with the highest priced items jackets at £83.
