Cath Kidston has opened its largest ever flagship store in London’s Piccadilly.
The 7,000 sq ft shop, set across three floors, is more than four times the 1,680 sq ft average UK store size and houses the retailer’s full collection of homeware and clothing.
Speaking at the opening founder Cath Kidston said the store was the retailer’s first opportunity to showcase its full fashion range properly, and the division was an area of growth for the business.
The store also features an exclusive Piccadilly print range.
Cath Kidston also opened a 2,000 sq ft store on Dublin’s Grafton Street last week (December 7).
The opening was followed by the news that the retailer is being primed for a £250m sale after private equity firm owners TA Associates drafted in investment bank UBS to explore options for the retailer.
According to reports TA Associates, which is thought to have paid £100m for a majority stake in the retailer in April 2010, is planning to put the company up for sale next year with interest expected from private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and other retailers.
Currently, Cath Kidston has 89 stores across Asia and 61 branches in the UK.
