Premium mini-chain Flannels has opened its ninth store in Plymouth, as part of plans by owners Sports Direct to grow the premium multibrand fascia.

The four floor 20,000 sq ft unit, a former Sports Direct, is the first new Flannels store to open since 2011.

It stocks premium fashion brands for men and women including Alexander McQueen, Paul Smith and Versace.

Flannels sits within owner Sports Direct’s premium lifestyle division, alongside USC, Cruise and Van Mildert.

Sports Direct has been consolidating this division and two weeks ago closed eight-store menswear retailer Tucci, rebranding all its stores as Van Mildert.

A further two Flannels stores in Newport and Swindon will open later this year in addition to a central London flagship.
