Image Gallery: La Portegna’s London flagship to be a showcase for wholesale stockists

Spanish accessories and footwear brand La Portegna has opened its first UK flagship store.

The 1,400 sq ft store, at 26 Marylebone High Street in London – a former Jack Wills unit – soft-launched this week ahead of the official opening on June 5.

Founder Jose Urrutia told Drapers the store would also act as a showroom for the brand for UK retailers.

“The London store is a great way to show retailers what we’re about. We attend Pitti Uomo every season, but by increasing our presence here we will increase the number of people that want to buy into our collection,” he said.

Urrutia described London as the “gateway to the world”, adding that the high number of tourists made it an “obvious choice” for the brand’s second store and first shop outside of Spain.

“Marylebone High Street has the right level of quantity and quality for La Portegna. The mix of stores is perfect and there is a high footfall of shoppers. We also have a lot of UK customers that buy from us online, so we have high hopes for the store,” he added.

La Portegna has four UK stockists, including Fenwick. Wholesale prices for the spring 14 collection start at €35 (£28) for leather wallets and range up to €120 (£98) for large leather bags, with a mark up of 2.5.
