Image gallery: River Island unveils Christopher Shannon collaboration

River Island will launch a menswear collection by designer Christopher Shannon as part of its Design Forum, which has previously featured collaborations with James Long, Joseph Turvey and Baartmans & Siegel.

The 11-piece collection will be available in stores and online in September, with prices ranging from £30 to £120.

It will include a navy fur bum bag, multi-panelled bomber jacket and a hooded mac with removable internal gilet with bright patch pockets.

Shannon said: “[River Island] has always been based in British culture. I think it is good to keep connected with that and high street collaborations help us in achieving that goal.”

Shannon won the inaugural British Fashion Council and GQ Designer Menswear Fund prize in June last year and was awarded a £150,000 grant to develop his business.

He graduated in 2008 from the MA Menswear course at Central Saint Martins, under the tutelage of Louise Wilson. His graduate collection featured collaborative pieces with sponsors including Eastpak, Calvin Klein and Levi’s.

Stockists for his main line collections include Machine A and Dover Street Market in London.
