The cold, wet and windy weather did not deter the glamourati at last night’s Bafta awards and some bold and bright colour choices brought summer to the red carpet.
Striking colour came from Thandie Newton in a hot pink floor length Monique Lhuillier gown and Rosamund Pike in an Alexander McQueen animal print dress in gold and yellow. Jessica Alba arrived looking stunning in electric blue Atelier Versace dress.
Helena Bonham Carter picked up Best Supporting Actress BAFTA for The King’s Speech in a surprisingly demure black Vivienne Westwood dress.
Emma Watson arrived to present the Outstanding British Film award to The King’s Speech team wearing a ruffled one-shoulder cream Valentino gown with flowing pleated train.

Jessica Alba - definitely the winner. She looks absolutely beautiful and the colour choice is amazing. This dress really stands out from the crowd and the draping is stunning.
Rosamund Pike - these colour tones really suit her complexion and hair colour.
Emma Watson - not so keen on this one, with her complexion I think she should be wearing stronger colours. The style of the dress is quite a difficult one to wear and I think its far too old for her and makes her look slightly fumpy. She should be going for a much younger and sexier look.
Helena Bonham Carter - this look is very apt for her although all that hair makes it difficult to see the dress!
Thandie Newton - this is an incredible colour on her and one that she clearly loves as she is often seen in bright pink. Her brilliant pose and structure means that ball gowns really suit her and she carries this off very well indeed.

Thandie Newton in Monique Lhuillier – a beautiful print of stunning pink shades is a fabulous match for Thandie’s colouring. Monique Lhuillier is truly the Mistress of Gowns!
Rosamund Pike in Alexander McQueen – A celebration of print – but was this the right choice for Rosamund? Amazing accessories and a stunning bag!
Jessica Alba in blue Atelier Versace – a vision of cerulean beauty. This wins a big vote for hair, jewellery, accessories, make-up and styling.
Helena Bonham Carter in Vivienne Westwood – HBC at her best – 100% perfect fit for this English rose from the atelier of the Queen of British Fashion.
Emma Watson in Valentino – a beautiful dress but with Emma’s new look it would have been great to have seen her in something more fun and young.

Thandie Newton - Thandie Newton is the epitome of elegance in this dress by Monique Lhuillier. Wrapped in the petals of an exploding magnified rose, she is the pistol and stamen of fashion royalty. A perfect fusion of cinematic glamour and red carpet perfection, she is a modern day Audrey Hepburn.
Rosamund Pike - Tiger, tiger burning bright refracted in the lenses light. Glowing optic warrior in flight – bring it on Rosamund Pike!
Jessica Alba - Jessica Alba couldn’t look more perfect from her jewels to her hair to the iceberg blue of her Atelier Versace gown. Bringing Hollywood perfection to London - but does perfection really bring you happiness?
Helena Bonham-Carter - I love Helena Bonham Carter’s loyalty to Vivienne. It makes me so happy and I love that she’s a free spirit in every way. Some critics were disappointed that she didn’t go kookier but she always looks confident and comfortable in what she wears and really doesn’t give a damn! I wish everyone would be a free as Helena. Apparently she had a cold and didn’t feel well – but still she came and she conquered!
Emma Watson - Emma Watson has achieved the impossible by growing up in the glaring scrutinising rays of the public eye without ever hitting that awkward patch. She’s an adorable little doll with an innate sense of fashion and what suits her. I love her liberating pixie haircut and her inner confidence of wearing a simple nude Valentino gown to let her natural beauty show through. Keep your eye on Emma Watson – she’s home-grown British talent with an inspirational sense of personal style.
