Avril Lavigne's Abbey Dawn hires sales boss

Jackson Distribution, the company that sells streetwear brand Iron First, has appointed Alistair Barr as UK sales manager of Abbey Dawn, the brand launched by singer Avril Lavigne.

Barr, who is a veteran of the surferwear market, will launch the rock-inspired brand this week at Bread & Butter in Berlin. Lavigne will be attending the show personally.

The Abbey Dawn range, which was relaunched in the US in December 2010, spans a menswear collection, including t-shirts and hoodies; a womenswear collection, which also includes t-shirts and hoodies as well as dresses and tops; footwear and accessories.

Barr is a fashion industry veteran having held led sales teams at boardsports brands Bilabong, No Fear and Quicksilver. He described the Abbey Dawn brand as having “huge potential” through Lavigne’s off- and on- line followers. She has 20 million Facebook friends and more than a million Twitter followers.
