Indies offered DIY web deal

A do-it-yourself transactional website package designed for independent retailers is to be launched by ecommerce specialist Venda.

Venda, whose high street customers include the likes of Monsoon and Laura Ashley, told Drapers it came up with the idea for the start-up website package after talking to fashion independents at Drapers’ Ecommerce Conference in January.

Venda has worked with payment provider PayPal to come up with a site which it claims is affordable and secure.

Venda marketing manager Andy Houstoun said: “The package has the functionality you would need for a successful website for a business with one to two shops.”
He said the platform had been designed so that someone with limited technical knowledge could set up a website. “We’ve aimed it at someone whose knowledge of the internet stretches to sending emails and browsing the web,” he said.

The package is priced £45.99 per month, including VAT. According to Venda there is no contract and retailers can cancel at any time.
