Instagram is rolling out new business tools for retailers, including the option to include a map to a store and turn existing posts into ads to reach more people.
The updates broadly covers three main areas: helping companies to stand out from other users, offering more insight about followers and assisting firms to gain new customers.
Instagram is rolling them out initially to the US, Australia and New Zealand and said they will be available in all regions by the end of the year.
The new free business profile feature allows retailers to be recognised as a business on Instagram, enabling them to choose how customers get in touch with them: either by phone call, text or email, as well as providing directions to a store.
Insights on Instagram has been developed to provide companies with more information about who their followers are and which posts resonate better than others from within the mobile app.
Finally, the social media platform is allowing retailers to turn posts that perform well into adverts from within the app to allow retailers to connect with more people.
Retailers can select a post that has already been shared on Instagram and add a button encouraging people to take action, either selecting a target audience or allowing the platform to suggest one for you for a specified length of time.
