The fourth edition of Italian textiles fair Milano Unica took place in Milan this week, with early indications of strong international interest.
Although the majority of visitors once again hailed from Italy, exhibitors said there were also high numbers of visitors from Japan, Germany, France and the UK. However, fewer US buyers made the trip because of this season's calendar clash with giant US clothing fair Magic, which took place at the same time in Las Vegas.
The larger Milano Unica show was created four seasons ago after it united Moda In, Prato Expo, Ideabiella, Idea Como and Shirt Avenue for the first time. Visitors said the new five-in-one format was starting to work, improving its pulling power.
There were 16 UK weavers exhibiting at the show, most of which had stands in tailoring venue Ideabiella.
