Lingerie supplier Intimas Group will open its first high street standalone store in the UK by the end of the year.
Chief executive Carol Duncumb told Drapers that the store, which will be between 12,000 sq ft and 18,000 sq ft, will open in the Midlands. "We don't want to compete with our wholesale business so we're looking at high streets that don't have a lingerie offer or a Debenhams," she said.
Duncumb said she also planned to open six clearance stores this year, with the first in York. The stores will be between 12,000 sq ft and 15,000 sq ft.
It is thought the group may open its first concessions in House of Fraser this autumn. "Department stores have approached us, but we have to ensure we have the systems to do so," said Duncumb. "We hope to open about six concessions this autumn." They will be between 500 sq ft and 1,000 sq ft.
Sales at Intimas were flat for the year to December 31 at £21.3 million, with profit before tax up from £900,000 to £3.05m.
